Film Weekend for the Whole Family
The Family Film Weekend, a traditional cinematic warm-up ahead of the third edition of Slano Film Days, will take place on June 13 and 14 at the open-air cinema Villa Riva in Slano.
The Family Film Weekend is designed as a program for children and families, as well as a symbolic gift to the local community, marking the end of the school year. With the support of the Municipality of Dubrovačko primorje, the Tourist Board of the Municipality of Dubrovačko primorje, and official partner Plazma, film lovers can look forward to free screenings of two hit films as a prelude to the summer film evenings within Slano Film Days.
“We are pleased that once again this year, ahead of Slano Film Days, we can offer our residents and visitors the Family Film Weekend. Events like this further enrich the social and cultural life of the Dubrovačko primorje area and confirm the importance of investing in programs that bring families together and promote quality leisure time. We are happy that Slano is increasingly becoming recognised as a place where film, culture, and community come together,” said Nikola Knežić, Mayor of the Municipality of Dubrovačko primorje.
On Saturday, 13 June, the animated film HOPPERS will be screened, a forest adventure in which a scientific experiment allows humans to temporarily take on animal form. At the centre of the story is a young girl, Mabel, who enters the world of animals and soon finds herself in the middle of a conflict over the protection of their natural habitat. The film offers a warm, humorous, and visually rich story about empathy, courage, and the connection between humans and nature.
On Sunday, 14 June, the film THE WEDDING follows, a cinema phenomenon and the most-watched Croatian film of all time. In the style of an anti-romantic comedy, the film follows the story of two families whose relationship constantly dances between a warm family story and an international incident.
“I was truly delighted by the invitation from Slano Film Days, which in recent years has established itself as an important platform for promoting and supporting filmmakers from Croatia and the region. Although THE WEDDING has already been shown in numerous cinemas, this will be its first open-air screening, and I’m especially pleased that part of the film crew has already confirmed their attendance, so we will experience it together with the audience under the open sky,” said director Igor Šeregi.
Both screenings begin at 9:15 PM, and admission is free.
