Emilija Gašić is an award-winning Serbian film director and photographer, who earned her MFA in Cinematography from NYU Tisch School of the Arts and a degree in Film Directing from the Academy of Arts in Belgrade. Her debut feature film 78 DAYS had its world premiere in the Bright Future section of the Rotterdam International Film Festival, where it became one of the twenty most-watched films at the festival and won several awards for Best Film, including at the Cyprus Film Days and the IFF in Innsbruck. Emilija also received the Vanguard Award at the VIFF and the Discovery Prize at the SIVFF. A recipient of the Nikon Storytellers Award, her cinematographic work includes STAY HERE IF YOU WANT (New York Shorts International, HollyShorts). Emilija's analog photography exhibition IN | BETWEEN has toured internationally. A co-founder of Istok Films, she divides her time between New York and Belgrade, working on films across the US and Europe.
