After graduating from film schools in Ljubljana and DFFB Berlin, he enrolled in the postgraduate program at Le Fresnoy in France. His work has been presented and awarded at important international film festivals, among them at Cannes, Toronto, Locarno, Rotterdam, New York, Tallinn, Marseille, Shanghai, etc. The debut feature STORIES FROM THE CHESTNUT WOODS (2019) which he coauthored with Marina Gumzi premiered at the Toronto film festival, then toured the world, won several prizes and was distributed in different countries including Japan in 2023. As a director of photography, he regularly collaborates with other filmmakers, most notably with Nebojša Sljepčević THE MAN WHO COULD NOT REMAIN SILENT (2024)- Palme d'or short winner; Matjaž Ivanišin PLAYING MEN (2017) and OROSLAN (2019) and Igor Bezinović FIUME O MORTE! (2025) selected at the official competition of Rotterdam Film Festival. Since 2008, next to working on film, he's also been passionately researching old and endemic fruit varieties for which he collaborated with farmers from the Italo-Slovene borderland. In 2013 he planted a gene-bank orchard and wrote a book on the cultural heritage of the found varieties of the Slovene-Italian borderland.
