Jasmila Žbanić

Jasmila Žbanić was born in 1974 in Sarajevo. Her first feature film GRBAVICA (2006) won the Golden Bear at the Berlinale and Grand Jury Prize at the AFI Fest in Los Angeles. The film QUO VADIS, AIDA? (2020) premiered in competition at Venice. The film won the Independent Spirit Award for Best International Film and European Film Awards for Best Film, Best Director, and Best Actress. The film was nominated for an Oscar for Best International Feature Film and for two BAFTA Awards for Best Director and Best Film Not in the English Language. She directed the sixth episode of the acclaimed HBO TV series THE LAST OF US (2023). Her TV series I KNOW YOUR SOUL (2023) was showcased at Venice. Her latest documentary is BLUM – MASTERS OF THEIR OWN DESTINY (2024), and she has just finished shooting her latest feature film QUO VADIS, AIDA? – THE MISSING PART.
