Danis Tanović

Director

Danis Tanović is a Bosnian-Herzegovinian filmmaker, born in 1969 in Zenica. For his debut film NO MAN'S LAND he received the Best Screenplay Award at the Cannes Film Festival in 2001 and the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film in 2002. The film won a total of 42 awards, making it one of the most awarded debut films in the history of cinema. His subsequent films include L’ENFER/HELL (2005), TRIAGE (2009), starring Colin Farrell, and  CIRKUS COLUMBIA (2010). For the films AN EPISODE IN THE LIFE OF AN IRON PICKER (2013) and DEATH IN SARAJEVO (2016), he received the Silver Bear at the Berlin Film Festival. More recently, he directed the comedy NOT SO FRIENDLY NEIGHBORHOOD AFFAIR (2021) and the dramedy AFTER THE SUMMER (2024). He also directed the TV series SUCCESS (2018), THE HOLLOW Seasons 1 and 2 (2022–2024), and FRUST (2023).
