Danis Tanović

Director

Danis Tanović was born in 1969 in Zenica. His debut film “No Man’s Land” won the Best Screenplay Award at the 2001 Cannes Film Festival and the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film in 2002. The film won 42 awards in total, which makes it one of the most awarded debut films in film history. His following two films, “Episode in the Life of an Iron Picker” and “Death in Sarajevo“, were awarded the Silver Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival in 2013 and 2016 respectively. In 2021, he released the successful comedy “A Not So Friendly Neighbourhood Affair” set in the heart of Sarajevo’s historic market Baščaršija.
