Tolga Karaçelik

Tolga Karaçelik was born in Istanbul in 1981. After graduating from the Faculty of Law at Marmara University, he studied filmmaking at the New York Film Academy.
His first feature film, TOLL BOOTH (2010), had its European premiere at the Warsaw Film Festival. It was also selected for screening by the Smithsonian and MoMA as their opening film for the Global Lens Program. His second feature, IVY (2015), premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and was showcased at numerous festivals around the world, including Toronto International Film Festival. His third feature, BUTTERFLIES (2018), won the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance Film Festival.
His latest film, PSYCHOTHERAPY: THE SHALLOW TALE OF A WRITER WHO DECIDED TO WRITE ABOUT A SERIAL KILLER (2024), starring Steve Buscemi, John Magaro, and Britt Lower, received the Audience Award at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2024. Karaçelik is one of fourteen Turkish artists included in MoMA’s permanent archives.
