Slano Film Days 2025 Opens

Last night, guests and participants of Slano Film Days 2025 gathered for an informal evening in the garden of Villa Riva in Slano, joined by media representatives.

Over the next five days, Slano will be a hub for film talks, the exchange of experiences and ideas, and casual gatherings of regional filmmakers and prominent names from the world of cinema and the film industry. Miro Purivatra, the director and creator of the Slano Film Days concept, welcomed all guests and participants.

“It is a great honor for me to welcome you to the Slano Film Days. I believe that over the next five days, all our guests will enjoy Slano, as will everyone who loves film. I want to thank Mayor of Slano Nikola Knežić, Director of the Slano Tourist Board Klara Vojvodić Medar, and all the people of Slano who are working on organizing the Slano Film Days. I’m especially pleased we’ve managed to bring together so many guests, emerging stars of Croatian and regional cinema who will spend these five days engaging with prominent filmmakers from around the world. Slano is a place people love to return to, a place where we watch films and talk about films. The film selection was made by our dear guests, and we hope you’ll enjoy them.”

The opening film screening was ANOTHER ROUND, the Oscar-winning film by Danish director Thomas Vinterberg, starring Mads Mikkelsen.

The film was selected and introduced by director Juho Kuosmanen in front of a packed audience on the main square in Slano:

“It’s a great pleasure to be part of this family. I chose this film because I wanted it to be a European art film, but at the same time fun and light. Although it deals with a very serious topic, it does so in a humorous, entertaining way and is truly a beautiful ode to life.” 

The Slano Film Days 2025 are taking place until June 21.
