Family Film Weekend Extended in Slano
The Family Film Weekend, the traditional cinematic warm-up ahead of the third edition of Slano Film Days, was extended due to high audience interest. Over the course of three evenings, the open-air cinema at Villa Riva drew large audiences, with free tickets for the screenings picked up days in advance.
On the first evening, audiences had the opportunity to see the animated film HOPPERS, while the biggest draw was the domestic box-office hit THE WEDDING, the most-watched Croatian film in cinemas of all time. Due to the high demand, an additional screening was organised, extending the Family Film Weekend to three days.
The THE WEDDING screenings as part of the Family Film Weekend were given special value by the presence of members of the film crew. Director Igor Šeregi, actors Dragan Bjelogrlić, Rene Bitorajac, Marko Grabež and Nika Grbelja, as well as the film’s producer Ivan Kelava, came to Slano. Although THE WEDDING has been screened in cinemas across Europe over the past few months, the screenings in Slano were the first open-air screenings. Producer Ivan Kelava highlighted this as a particularly special experience in his address to the audience following the screening. Director Igor Šeregi has already announced the sequel to THE WEDDING in Slano, while actor Marko Grabež, a Slano Film Days alumnus from last year, said he was particularly happy to return to Slano, this time with a film that has marked the domestic cinema season. Actor Rene Bitorajac concluded that the atmosphere in Slano makes it clear why the event continues to grow and attract an ever-increasing number of visitors each year.
Following the extended Family Film Weekend, the third edition of Slano Film Days begins tonight, once again bringing together some of the most prominent directors, actors, producers, casting directors, talent agents and other film professionals from Croatia, the region and around the world. Over five days, through Film Talks, Career Talks, film screenings and informal gatherings, they will exchange experiences and ideas and present new projects.
