Day 1 – Slano Film Days 2026 Opens

The 2026 edition of Slano Film Days officially opened last night at the Rector’s Palace in Slano. The MEET & GREET welcome reception brought together participants from the region and international guests, marking the beginning of several days dedicated to film and creative exchange among film professionals.

Following the welcome address by Slano Mayor Nikola Knežić, guests were welcomed by Miro Purivatra, Director and creator of the Slano Film Days concept.

“It is an honor and a pleasure to see some of the most interesting and highly regarded filmmakers of our time gathered once again in Slano, alongside a new generation of regional filmmakers. It is not often possible to bring together so many outstanding film professionals in one place and provide an opportunity for conversation and the exchange of experiences in such a relaxed setting, and that is precisely what makes Slano Film Days special,” said Purivatra.

Following the welcome reception, a screening of the film COLD WAR by Paweł Pawlikowski was held. The film won the Best Director award at the Cannes Film Festival and was nominated for

three Oscars. The film was presented to the audience at the Villa Riva Open-Air Cinema by director Pawlikowski and Joanna Kulig, the Polish actress who gained international recognition from audiences and critics for her leading role in the film.

“It is wonderful to be back here and to see how Slano Film Days is growing. I’m happy to have the opportunity to present my film, which has music, dance and a little bit of drama, so I hope the audience will enjoy it. In fact, I love it so much that I’m going to watch it again myself,” Pawlikowski said ahead of the screening. Joanna Kulig said she was delighted to present the film alongside Pawlikowski, describing it as a film that has had a defining impact on her career. She added that she was especially happy to be in Slano and meet the audience in such a unique setting.
