Lili Horvát
Lili Horvát (b.1982) grew up in Budapest. She studied audiovisual arts at the Sorbonne Nouvelle in Paris and film directing at the University of Theatre and Film Arts in Budapest. Her first feature THE WEDNESDAY CHILD won the East of the West competition at Karlovy Vary in 2015, and received numerous awards. In 2016, Lili co-founded the production company Poste Restante, which produced her second feature PREPARATIONS TO BE TOGETHER FOR AN UNKNOWN PERIOD OF TIME. The film premiered at Venice in 2020. Besides winning major awards worldwide, it was Hungary’s 2021 Oscar entry, was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award, and longlisted for the European Film Awards. In 2024, Lili and her producing partner Dóra Csernátony produced Zsófia Szilágyi’s JANUARY 2 within the Biennale College of the Venice FF. Lili’s third feature, her English-language debut, MY NOTES ON MARS, starring Mackenzie Davis and Rupert Friend, is currently in post-production.
