Day 2 - Slano Film Days 2024
The second day of Slano Film Days 2024 began with the participants' presentations, followed by an inspiring Film Talk with directors Alfonso Cuarón and Paweł Pawlikowski. Cuarón reminisced about his beginnings and his love for cinema, and then Pawlikowski and Cuarón talked about Cuarón’s films GREAT EXPECTATIONS, HARRY POTTER AND THE PRISONER OF AZKABAN, ROMA and GRAVITY. They also recalled their encounters at various points in their careers, beginning with mutual inspiration when Pawlikowski's film LAST RESORT inspired Cuarón's film CHILDREN OF MEN. At the 2018 Oscars, their films ROMA and COLD WAR were competitors in several categories.
In the afternoon, casting director Timka Grin led Film Talks with actors and actresses, Christian Jeune, Director of the Film Department of the Cannes Film Festival, talked with directors, and renowned cinematographer Michael Seresin talked with cinematographers.
The second evening film screening took place in the enchanting setting of Villa Riva, where Alan Parker's film ANGEL HEART was screened. The film was introduced to the local audience by director of photography Michael Seresin.
"What a wonderful place, people, weather, food, nature, the sea... Believe me, I've been to many places, but I've never experienced anything like this. Miro and his team have outdone themselves, and it is a great pleasure to be here with you tonight. Talking to the young, talented filmmakers I've met here is a true refreshment for me. The film you are about to watch was made when I was young, in New York, one of my two favorite cities. I hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed making it."
