Film Talks with directors at Slano Film Days 2025
We are one month away from the second edition of Slano Film Days, which will once again feature Film Talks with renowned international and regional directors.
Joining us in Slano this year are directors Michel Franco, Juho Kuosmanen, Ruben Östlund, Maura Delpero, Jasmila Žbanić, and Želimir Žilnik.
Mexican director Michel Franco will open this year’s Film Talks with a session for participants focusing on the challenges of financing, producing, and distributing auteur cinema today.
Finnish director Juho Kuosmanen will give a talk on a director’s fear of their next project and the creative process behind his upcoming film.
Ruben Östlund, the Swedish director currently wrapping production on his seventh feature film, THE ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM IS DOWN, will share insights into the making of this film, with a special focus on the editing process. Östlund will also be editing the film during Slano Film Days, giving participants a rare opportunity to see him “in action”.
Maura Delpero, whose film VERMIGLIO won the Silver Lion Grand Jury Prize at the 81st Venice Film Festival, will be visiting Slano for the first time. VERMIGLIO is an arthouse film that explores not only human stories but also places, accompanied by striking imagery of snow-covered mountains, alpine streams, and vast pine forests.
Regional directors Jasmila Žbanić and Želimir Žilnik will share their extensive professional experiences with participants, both in their home countries and through regional co-productions, as well as on major international projects such as the HBO series THE LAST OF US, which Žbanić directed in part.
