Michael Seresin Returns to Slano for Acting in front of the Camera Workshop
Internationally acclaimed cinematographer Michael Seresin returns to Slano this year to lead the three-day practical workshop Acting in front of the Camera for regional actors and actresses who participated in previous editions of Slano Film Days. The workshop is designed as a continuation of professional development and support for emerging acting talent from the region.
Participants will explore the relationship between light and performance, and how lighting shapes emotion, atmosphere, and character on camera, understanding light as a creative partner in acting and storytelling rather than solely a technical element of film production.
“I envisioned this workshop as practical, collaborative work focused on actors. Technical terms are introduced only where they directly support the understanding of performance. Throughout the process, the emphasis is on empowering actors, rather than overloading them with knowledge of cinematography.” – Michael Seresin
Through practical on-location work in Slano, offering an authentic film set experience and mentorship from leading film professionals, participants will work on scenes prepared specifically for the workshop by directors Maura Delpero, winner of the Silver Lion in Venice, and Oscar-winning director Danis Tanović, recipient of two Silver Bears in Berlin.
The workshop will bring together actresses Sara Klimoska (North Macedonia, alumna 2022) and Anita Ognjanović (Serbia, alumna 2024), alongside actors Marko Grabež (Serbia, alumnus 2025) and Goran Marković (Croatia, alumnus 2024).
