Film Screenings at Slano Film Days 2026

This year’s edition of Slano Film Days will feature evening screenings of films selected by our guests, renowned international filmmakers.

On the opening night, Tuesday, June 16, director Paweł Pawlikowski has selected COLD WAR, which won Best Director at Cannes and was nominated for three Oscars for Best Director, Best Foreign Language Film and Best Photography. The film stars Polish actress and singer Joanna Kulig, who will join director Pawlikowski in Slano to greet the audience before the screening.

On Wednesday, June 17, the audience will have the opportunity to watch three short films AUTOBIOGRAPHICAL SCENE NUMBER 6882, INCIDENT BY A BANK, and DEATH OF A FANTASTIC MACHINE selected and introduced by director Ruben Östlund.

On Thursday, June 18, the new film THE BRIDE! by director Maggie Gyllenhaal, starring Peter Sarsgaard, will be screened. The screening in Slano will be introduced by Maggie Gyllenhaal and Peter Sarsgaard, who are attending Slano Film Days for the first time this year.

On Friday, June 19, the local audience will have the opportunity to watch FATHERLAND, the new film by director Paweł Pawlikowski, which won Best Director at this year’s Cannes. This will be the film’s premiere in Croatia, and it will be introduced to the audience in Slano by director Pawlikowski.

The final screening, on Saturday, June 20, will be PREPARATIONS TO BE TOGETHER FOR AN UNKNOWN PERIOD OF TIME by Hungarian director Lili Horvát. Hungarian actress Natasa Stork has received several awards for Best Leading Actress at international film festivals for her performance in this film. Director Lili Horvát and actress Natasa Stork, both guests of this year’s Slano Film Days, will introduce the film together in Slano.

The screenings will take place at the open-air cinema in the garden of Villa Riva, starting at 9:15 PM, except for the short films on Wednesday, June 17, which will begin at 9:00 PM.

Admission to all screenings is free of charge.
